Casino Comps before the 'Comp Card'?

October 30th, 2008

I have been using Las Vegas Comps for years. The last time was Nov of 2001. I asked the Pit Boss for it and bypassed the Comp Card. I wasn't even registared at his property and I hadn't so much as placed one single bet.

The Pit Boss gave me and my wife a $50.00 Dinner Comp. This was just a note type thing written on regular paper and we used the VIP Line. My question is more about the 'VIP Line'.

If the Pit Boss had only of given us a free cup of coffee on the Comp Slip, would we still of been able to use the 'VIP Line'?

What other ways are you entitled to use this line?

Thanks,
Mike h.

You are going to find that times are a changing in Vegas. Pit bosses don't hand out comps so fast anymore until they see you earn them. The use of the VIP line depending on the property has to be well earned these days also.

This is a corporate world now and it is all about the numbers. If they don't see the numbers from you, you are not going to see the freebies from them these days.

I live in las vegas nv and I am wondering how long it takes to reach a end to workmans comp settlement?

I was twice with a severe head injury while on the job the first was nov 2006 the second was june 2007 I just recieved my first evaluation but not a rating. this was for the operation to my cervical spine.I am still waiting for one on my main head injury

I think we may need a little more info to answer your question here. You severely injured your head twice?? Have you been working since June 2007? Or are you currently on temporary disability? So you have had an evaluation for a surgery on your spine, however, you did not mention if you are currently in talks to work on a dispute, or if the company has mentioned that they are looking to settle. If you are on disability and getting your medical bills paid for then what is the problem?

Please provide more information so we can answer your question better.

Good luck to you!

What level of comps can I expect with my level of video poker play in a Las Vegas Strip hotel?

October 21st, 2008

I have been playing at a Station Casinos property but am getting bored with what they have to offer. I play video poker 8 hours per day for three days straight, with about $13,000 coin in per hour and thus about $100,000 coin in per day and $300,000 per 3-day trip. I haven't played on the Strip in a long time so I'm not sure what I'm worth to the big casinos. I'm looking for a free stay in a very nice suite, free fine dining for my wife and me, and maybe even free airfare from the West Coast. Am I being realistic? Thanks in advance for your responses!
BTW, I play 98.9% deuces wild.
banananose_89117,

I know that my play doesn't transfer. I meant; how much can I expect if I go to a Strip casino and play at my normal duration and level?
Jack,

Thanks for your response. I have yet to find dollar 5-play FPDW anywhere. Or even $5 single play FPDW. Please tell me where I can find these.

Video Poker comps vary not just by casino but also by the type of game you play.

Increasingly, video poker comps are lower for full pay or near full pay games. Even though 9/6 Jacks or Better (9 to 1 for full house and 6 to 1 for flush and bet returned if pair of Jacks or higher) is not 100%+, many casinos have degraded comps for these games.

If you play one of the worst paytables such as 6/5 Jacks or Better such as at Harrah's then you should get full comps. However, you pay a steep price for those comps since the difference between 9/6 and 6/5 is about 4 1/2 percentage points.

Your comp rate might be as high as .003% or maybe just .001% or somewhere between $300-$900 for your 3 days not including casino host discretion which has been mostly taken away from them over the years. However, given the downturn and your decent level of play, I would still ask casino hosts for full RFB anyway.

If your wife plays and uses your card, you can get the concentrated benefit of play. Also, there are sometimes promotions for 2X, 5X, etc. points so I would check for those. If you are friendly to your casino host, they might try harder to bend their comp rules for you but as I said before, their discretion is being stripped away by the bean counters.

I think you can get a fair amount of what you want but maybe not all. However, there are deals for hotel rooms and air fare so a return flight (booked through the casinos' travel agent with a return stay at an undetermined rate) is not out of the question if you ask.

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton Resorts in Las Vegas?

My husband , my daughter and myself are going to Las Vegas for christmas and we are staying at the Hilton Resorts. Just looking for some info about the place, how to get the best comps , things to do ect……

Are you asking about the Hilton hotel or the Hilton Grand Vacation club? The Hilton Hotel on Paradise is large with a sportsbook, buffet and casino. The Hilton Grand Vacations properties are all newer. The HGVC on the strip has the best rooms, while the HGVC at the Flamingo has the best location and shares a great pool with the Flamingo Hotel. All of these locations have concierge service with discounts for the guests.

Which casino In Las Vegas offers the overall BEST gambling?

I have always wondered which casino, on or off strip, in Vegas offers very best gambling in town? By gambling I mean: games (slots or tables), sports books, comps, etc. Is there just one?

I suspect that you will get a lot of people suggesting that Bellagio or some other Big fancy hotel will have the best gaming and gambling. However, the casino that I find with the best overall gambling senario for the typical and average gambler is MGM Grand. It has probably the largest gaming floor in Vegas, a newly expanded sports book (with nice plasma screens everywhere), a very nice and fairly new poker room (less than 3 years old), and a wide range of table games (Blackjack, carribean stud, pai gow, baccerat, war, etc.) and slot machines. In addition to that, they have good comps and their comp credit accumulation is good at any of their other sister casinos (such as Bellagio, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, etc.). The limits they offer on the tables is a wide range too - so you can bet pretty low (though there are definately lower limits available at lower end casinos) and go up to as high as you'd like.

In terms of a good casino for lower limits without the cheap feeling - Luxor, Stratosphere, and Monte Carlo round out a set of good, large, and clean casinos that offer a wide variety of games and slot machines.

For higher end gaming, Wynn, Bellagio, and the Venetian is probably your best bet - though just about ANY casino will bend over backwards if you bring enough money.

Good luck and have fun - hope this helps.

is it true I can get my room comped in Las Vegas?

October 12th, 2008

Yes, but comps are based on how much you played and how much money you spend.

The best you can do is get a players card and play
as much as you can.

And if you loose enough money the sky is the limit as far as comps go.

Staying at Paris in Las Vegas - Any good hints or tips?

October 9th, 2008

I have made reservations for a room at Paris in Las Vegas, but have never stayed in that hotel before. Does anyone have any tips or hints about the rooms? I'm not a gambler, so I don't expect any comps, but do I have any leeway in requesting certain areas or where the room should be? Do they have non-smoking floors? Good views? I could use any hints you may have. Thanks so much!

I stayed at the Paris the last trip to Vegas in December 06. When you check in ask for a non-smoking room, if that's what you want and a King bed, and also ask for a high floor with a view. If they are not booked solid or crowded they will try to give you what you request. You will not get an upgrade to a suite, but they will try to accommodate you. You do know when you book your room you can also ask for non-smoking at that time.

The hotel room we got was really nice. Besides the king bed it had a love seat as well as another easy chair. It had a huge, like maybe 42 inch, flat panel TV. The bathroom was nice and had a shower stall seperate from the tub.

Regardless of whether you are a big gambler go immediately to the player's club desk and get a card. Use it whenever you play the slots (or tables) in Paris (you can use the same card in Ballys and Flamingo) so that you accumulate points for your play. You may not earn enough points for a free room this time, but next time you go, and if you want to stay a Paris again, call the number on the back of the card to make room reservations. They will probably give you a reduced rate.

If you are not a big gambler, play the penny slots which require 15 to 30 cents per play to cover all of the lines. You can get lucky on them and win some money.

Does anyone have a host in Las Vegas? If so what has your host comped you?

October 6th, 2008

Posted by admin in las vegas comps | 2 Comments »

I'm going to Vegas in June and Harrah's/Caeser's already comped my room is there anything I can ask my host for?

I used to have a host, and they will do what they can to accomodate you. Basically, don't try and demand too much, or too soon. If you have a host, ask to meet with them when you come to town. Let them know what you're interested in doing while you're in town, and tell them a little bit about what you plan to do, games you'll play, your budget, etc. If they have an idea what you're interests are, they can try and work with that. I know, it's being a little vague, but it's true.

If you don't have a host, and you just have a comped room, then if you plan to play tables, feel free to ask the pit bosses for something after you've played. If you'll be playing slots, you'll have a harder time, but it's doable. You'll just have to make sure you're playing with a players card, and be able to show you've spent a fair amount of money over time.

Which Las Vegas Strip casinos have the best slot comps and best rewards for slot / table play?

What I would think is any station casino or the fiesta but if your looking at the strip is the Belligio,Mirage, and the MGM Grand would be the best places to go and get rewards.

Good Luck!!!!!!
